“We just want to work together for state”: UP Deputy CM Maurya on CM Yogi’s ‘Batenge to Katenge’ slogan – World News Network

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 16 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Saturday took a diplomatic stance on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s controversial slogan “Batenge toh Katenge,” emphasising the importance of unity in advancing the state’s development.
“Whatever CM Yogi Adityanath has said, you should ask him about that. We just want to work together for the state’s progress,” he stated.
The Deputy CM also expressed confidence in the BJP-led alliance’s prospects in the upcoming bypolls, predicting a significant victory.
“The BJP-led alliance is going to win all nine seats with a huge margin. The public wants to puncture Akhilesh Yadav’s cycle and send it to his garage in Saifai,” he said.
The slogan has sparked a war of words between the BJP and opposition parties. Critics argue it promotes intolerance, while supporters view it as a call to action against those seeking to divide society.
The slogan “Batenge toh Katenge,” coined by CM Yogi Adityanath, advocates for Hindu unity but has been widely condemned by opposition leaders, who allege it carries communal undertones.
Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath on Saturday compared the Samajwadi Party to the Muslim League, the organisation established in Aligarh in 1906 that played a significant role in India’s partition.
The CM accused the Samajwadi Party of engaging in divisive politics akin to that of the Muslim League.
Addressing a public rally in Aligarh, Yogi Adityanath said, “The Muslim League, which laid the foundation for India’s partition in 1906, was established in Aligarh. Aligarh resisted their divisive agenda, but their intentions succeeded in dividing society on communal lines. The same work the Muslim League did at that time is now being done by the Samajwadi Party. Their intentions should not be allowed to succeed.”
The Chief Minister underscored the importance of unity for security and progress. “Earlier, we faced humiliation in Ayodhya because we were divided. We faced similar insults in Mathura and Kashi because of division. ‘Batenge toh Katenge’ (if we divide, we will fall). ‘Ek rahenge, safe rahenge’ (if we stay united, we will remain safe). I guarantee development and security for all,” he asserted.
This development comes ahead of the crucial bypolls in Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP is seeking to strengthen its position. Notably, bypolls will be held for nine seats in Uttar Pradesh on November 20, with results to be declared on November 23. (ANI)
