New Delhi [India], September 20 (ANI): Following Uttarakhand governor Lieutenant General (Retired) Gurmit Singh’s approval to the anti-riot law (Uttarakhand Public and Private Property Damage Recovery Bill 2024) Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand is a peaceful state and there is no place for riots, vandalism and disturbance here.
CM Dhami said, “The Governor has given his approval to the anti-riot law (Uttarakhand Public and Private Property Damage Recovery Bill 2024) which was passed in the assembly in the last assembly session. After the implementation of the anti-riot law, whoever causes riots in the state, damages government property or private property, every penny of that will be compensated by the same person. The purpose of bringing this is that our state is peaceful. There is no place for riots, vandalism and disturbance here.”
Earlier CM Dhami expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Governor for approving the Uttarakhand Public (Government) and Private Property Damage Recovery (Ordinance) Act 2024.
The Chief Minister said that under this law, the damage caused to government and private property by the rioters can be compensated. The expenses incurred by the government staff engaged in riot control and other work will also be reimbursed.
Dhami said that no one is allowed to disturb the law and order and nature in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. This law will be strictly followed in the state.
Earlier in March, CM Dhami’s government approved the country’s most stringent law (ordinance) to provide compensation for the entire loss caused during riots.
“The Cabinet has approved the formation of a special tribunal during the Cabinet meeting with the aim of strictly curbing the cases of riots and unrest,” Dhami had said.
He said that the “damage caused to public property during the riots would be compensated by the rioters themselves”.
The Chief Minister said, “Those who disturb the peace of the state will have to pay a heavy price and will set an example that will be remembered for years by the generations of rioters who tarnished the sacred land of Devbhoomi”.
After implementing the country’s strictest anti-copying law and passing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill, Chief Minister Dhami’s cabinet passed the Uttarakhand Public (Government) and Recovery of Damage to Private Property (Ordinance) Act 2024 to stop riots and deal with rioters. (ANI)
